1. Scope and Who We Are
This Privacy Policy explains how Jump Insurance Services, a DBA of Rebecca Byrom Insurance Agency Inc (“Jump Insurance Services,” “we,” “us,” or “our”), collects, uses, discloses, retains, and protects personal information. Jump Insurance Services operates www.cheaplandlordinsurance.com under the Cheap Landlord Insurance website and brand, together with related web pages, quote forms, portals, and communications (collectively, the “Services”).
This Policy covers online and offline information associated with landlord insurance and related personal or commercial property insurance inquiries, quotes, applications, underwriting, policy placement, billing, renewals, servicing, and claims support. It does not replace any privacy notice issued by an insurance carrier or other financial institution, whose notice controls its own practices.
Insurance privacy laws: Some information collected in connection with an insurance transaction may be governed by the Gramm-Leach-Bliley Act, state insurance privacy laws, the Fair Credit Reporting Act, or similar laws. Where an exemption or a more specific law applies, we handle that information under the applicable law and related notices.
2. Personal Information We Collect
The categories below describe personal information we may have collected during the preceding 12 months and may continue to collect, depending on the requested product and interaction.
Identifiers and contact details. Name, postal address, email address, telephone number, IP address, online identifiers, date of birth, and government-issued identifiers when reasonably necessary and permitted.
Insurance, customer, and financial records. Quote and application data; policy, coverage, premium, billing, payment, and transaction information; signatures; insurance scores or consumer-report information where permitted; prior insurance; loss runs; claims history; mortgagee, lienholder, and additional-interest information.
Property and underwriting information. Rental-property address; ownership structure; entity or trust information; occupancy and rental use; number of units; year built; construction, roof, plumbing, electrical, heating, protection, and renovation details; square footage; replacement-cost estimates; requested limits and deductibles; photographs, inspections, hazard, catastrophe, geospatial, public-record, and valuation data.
Tenant or third-party information. Limited information about tenants, property managers, co-owners, mortgagees, additional insureds, or other persons when you provide it and it is relevant to the insurance transaction. Please provide only information you are authorized to provide and that is reasonably necessary.
Commercial and professional information. Business name, entity type, occupation, property portfolio, products considered or purchased, referral source, and other information connected with a commercial landlord or property account.
Internet, device, and usage information. Browser and device type, operating system, IP-derived approximate location, pages viewed, links selected, referral URLs, session activity, cookie or pixel identifiers, and interactions with emails or advertisements.
Communications and preferences. Emails, texts, chat or form submissions, call notes, customer-service records, communication preferences, consent records, and opt-out requests.
Inferences and eligibility indicators. Information derived from the items above to help match an applicant with available programs, identify likely coverage needs, prevent fraud, or support underwriting. Insurance carriers make final eligibility, pricing, and coverage decisions.
Sensitive personal information. Account credentials; Social Security, driver’s-license, or other government identifier; financial-account or payment information; and precise geolocation only when required and lawfully collected. We use sensitive personal information only for permitted operational, security, legal, or insurance purposes and not to infer characteristics about you unless permitted by law.
We do not necessarily collect every item listed above from every person. We ask for information based on the product, carrier, state, and stage of the insurance transaction.
3. Sources of Personal Information
We collect personal information from the following categories of sources:
You, your authorized representative, co-applicant, agent, property manager, employer, or business.
Insurance carriers, managing general agencies, wholesalers, underwriters, reinsurers, premium-finance companies, payment processors, inspection companies, claims administrators, and other insurance-market participants.
Consumer-reporting agencies, loss-history databases, fraud-prevention and identity-verification providers, where permitted and with any authorization required by law.
Property, mapping, catastrophe, geospatial, valuation, public-record, assessor, building-permit, and commercially available data sources.
Our website, cookies, analytics, advertising technologies, communications platforms, and service providers.
Referral partners, lead sources, affiliates, and other persons who direct you to us, subject to applicable law and their own privacy notices.
4. How We Use Personal Information
We may use personal information to:
Respond to inquiries; provide or facilitate quotes; collect applications; verify information; match risks with insurance programs; obtain underwriting information; and submit information to carriers or intermediaries.
Place, bind where authorized, issue, renew, modify, finance, bill, collect payment for, and service insurance policies; provide documents; and support claims communications.
Send transactional and relationship communications about quotes, applications, underwriting, billing, payments, renewals, policy status, coverage, service, claims, and security.
Send marketing communications where permitted and, for marketing texts or calls requiring consent, only after obtaining the consent required by law.
Authenticate users; maintain accounts; prevent fraud; secure the Services; debug; analyze performance; improve forms and workflows; and develop products and services.
Comply with insurance, privacy, tax, recordkeeping, licensing, anti-fraud, sanctions, court, regulatory, and other legal requirements; establish or defend legal claims; and respond to lawful requests.
Complete a merger, financing, reorganization, sale, or transfer of all or part of our business, subject to appropriate protections.
5. Automated Tools and Insurance Decisions
We may use automated tools to organize application information, estimate property characteristics, detect errors or fraud, identify potential insurance programs, or generate preliminary quotes or indications. These tools do not themselves create coverage. Final eligibility, pricing, coverage, and underwriting decisions are made by the applicable insurer or authorized insurance professional under the carrier’s rules. If applicable law requires a separate notice, access right, explanation, or opt-out for automated decisionmaking, we will provide it at the appropriate time.
6. How We Disclose Personal Information
We may disclose the categories described above for the purposes stated in this Policy to:
Insurance carriers, underwriting companies, managing general agencies, wholesalers, reinsurers, premium-finance providers, claims administrators, and other parties involved in quoting, placing, or servicing coverage.
Service providers and contractors that support hosting, cloud storage, cybersecurity, analytics, identity verification, property data, inspections, e-signature, document delivery, email, SMS/MMS, customer relationship management, payment processing, accounting, auditing, and professional services.
Affiliates and authorized insurance producers when necessary to provide the requested Services or as otherwise disclosed at collection.
Regulators, law enforcement, courts, government agencies, auditors, and other persons when required or permitted by law or needed to protect rights, safety, and security.
A buyer, successor, lender, or adviser in connection with a corporate transaction, subject to confidentiality and legal requirements.
Other persons at your direction or with your consent.
We may also use and disclose aggregated or deidentified information. We will not attempt to reidentify deidentified information except as permitted to test whether deidentification processes comply with law.
7. Sale, Sharing, and Targeted Advertising
We do not sell personal information for money. If we use advertising cookies, pixels, or similar technology, disclosure of identifiers, internet or network activity, approximate location, or inferences to advertising partners may be considered “sharing” under California law or “targeted advertising” under other state laws.
We may use Google Ads, Meta Pixel, retargeting, and similar advertising or measurement technologies. During the preceding 12 months, we may have disclosed identifiers, internet or network activity, approximate location, and inferences to advertising and analytics partners in a manner that may be considered ‘sharing’ under California law or ‘targeted advertising’ under other state privacy laws. We do not knowingly sell or share personal information of consumers under 16.
Where applicable, you may opt out by using the ‘Your Privacy Choices’ or ‘Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information’ control provided on the website, enabling a legally recognized browser-based opt-out preference signal such as Global Privacy Control, or contacting us at agency.services@jumpins.com or 888-724-7242. Your browser signal generally applies to the browser and device from which it is sent.
Mobile-data commitment: We do not sell mobile numbers or SMS/MMS consent records, and we do not share them with third parties or affiliates for those parties’ own marketing. We may disclose them to vendors that help us deliver messages, manage consent, prevent fraud, or comply with law.
8. Cookies and Similar Technologies
We and our providers may use cookies, pixels, tags, local storage, and similar technology for essential site functions, security, remembering preferences, analytics, form performance, attribution, and advertising. Some technologies are set by third parties and are governed by their own privacy notices.
You can adjust your browser settings and use the cookie or privacy-preference control provided on the website, where available. Blocking cookies may affect some features. We do not respond to legacy ‘Do Not Track’ signals, but we honor legally recognized opt-out preference signals as described above where required by law.
9. Email, SMS/MMS, and Electronic Delivery
9.1 Transactional and Service Communications
We may use email, telephone, SMS, or MMS to respond to you and communicate about a requested quote, application, underwriting question, policy, billing or payment, renewal, lapse or cancellation risk, claim, service request, security issue, or other transaction or relationship. Message frequency varies. Message and data rates may apply. Reply STOP to opt out of texts and HELP for help. A text opt-out will not prevent legally required notices through another permitted channel.
9.2 Marketing Communications
We send marketing emails in accordance with applicable law and include an unsubscribe method. We send marketing texts or calls that require consent only after obtaining the required consent. Consent to marketing is not a condition of purchasing insurance. Opting out of marketing does not prevent non-marketing communications that are permitted or required for an existing transaction, policy, or service request.
9.3 Electronic Records and E-SIGN
This Privacy Policy is not, by itself, consent to replace paper records with electronic records. When electronic delivery consent is required, we will present a separate, clear consent process describing the records covered, hardware and software requirements, how to request paper copies, how to update contact information, and how to withdraw consent. We provide electronic insurance records only where permitted and in the manner required by applicable law and carrier procedures.
Additional SMS terms and any required electronic-delivery consent will be presented when you enroll or consent and are available upon request by contacting agency.services@jumpins.com or 888-724-7242.
10. Data Retention
We retain personal information only as reasonably necessary for the disclosed purposes, including insurance placement and servicing, legal and regulatory recordkeeping, fraud prevention, security, dispute resolution, and enforcement of agreements. Retention depends on the record type, policy life cycle, carrier requirements, applicable limitation periods, and insurance, tax, audit, and legal obligations.
Typical retention criteria include the duration of a quote or customer relationship plus the period required by applicable insurance and recordkeeping laws; consent and electronic-delivery records for the required statutory period; financial and tax records for applicable retention periods; marketing records until opt-out plus a suppression record; and web analytics according to vendor settings. When information is no longer needed, we delete, destroy, or deidentify it consistent with our procedures and legal obligations.
11. Security
We use reasonable administrative, technical, and physical safeguards designed to protect personal information, including access controls, authentication, encryption where appropriate, monitoring, vendor oversight, and workforce practices. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure. Do not send Social Security numbers, payment-card data, passwords, or other highly sensitive information by ordinary email or text unless we specifically direct you to a secure method.
12. Your Privacy Choices and Rights
12.1 Communication Choices
Email marketing: use the unsubscribe link in a marketing email or contact agency.services@jumpins.com.
Text messages: reply STOP. Reply HELP for help. You may also contact agency.services@jumpins.com or 888-724-7242.
Cookies and targeted advertising: use the website’s cookie or privacy-preference control, enable a legally recognized opt-out preference signal such as Global Privacy Control, or contact us at agency.services@jumpins.com or 888-724-7242.
12.2 California Privacy Rights
If the California Consumer Privacy Act applies to us and to the information at issue, California residents may request access to categories and specific pieces of personal information, correction, deletion, and information about sources, purposes, and disclosures; may opt out of sale or sharing; may limit certain uses or disclosures of sensitive personal information when applicable; and may exercise rights without discriminatory treatment. These rights are subject to verification, exceptions, and exclusions, including for certain information governed by insurance or financial privacy laws.
We do not offer a financial incentive or price or service difference in exchange for personal information unless we provide a separate notice describing the program.
12.3 Rights in Other U.S. States
Residents of certain states may have rights to access, correct, delete, or obtain a portable copy of personal information; opt out of sale, targeted advertising, or certain profiling; and appeal a denied request. The exact rights and exceptions depend on your state and the information involved. We will respond as required by applicable law.
12.4 How to Submit a Request
To submit a privacy request, email agency.services@jumpins.com or call 888-724-7242. Please describe your request and provide enough information for us to reasonably verify identity and locate relevant records. We will use verification information only for the request. We may deny or limit a request where permitted by law and will explain any appeal method required by your state.
An authorized agent may submit a request where permitted. We may require proof of authorization and may ask the consumer to verify identity or confirm the request directly. For accessibility assistance, contact agency.services@jumpins.com or 888-724-7242.
13. California “Shine the Light”
California Civil Code section 1798.83 may permit California customers to request information about certain disclosures of personal information to third parties for their own direct-marketing purposes. Submit a request to agency.services@jumpins.com with “Shine the Light Request” in the subject line. This provision does not apply where an exception applies or where we do not make covered disclosures.
14. Children’s Privacy
The Services are for adults seeking property or business insurance and are not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child provided information, contact agency.services@jumpins.com.
15. Third-Party Websites and Services
The Services may link to carrier portals, payment services, e-signature platforms, social media, or other third-party services. Their terms and privacy notices control their services; a link does not mean that we control or endorse their practices.
16. Processing Location
We operate in the United States. Information may be processed in the United States and other locations where our providers operate, subject to applicable protections.
17. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Policy as laws, technology, vendors, or practices change. We will post the revised Policy with a new “Last updated” date, provide other notice when required, and review the Policy at least annually where required.
